About EASA Part 145 Regulatory Training — Initial

EASA Part-145 is the set of requirements, laid down in Annex II of Regulation (EU) No 1321/2014, that an organisation must meet to be approved to maintain aircraft and aircraft components. This course explains the Part-145 framework with reference to Regulation (EU) No 1321/2014, including amending regulations up to date.

The 10 lessons follow the structure of the approval itself: an introduction to aviation regulations and EASA Part-145, approval and scope of work, facility and infrastructure requirements, personnel requirements, maintenance data, tool and material requirements, planning, performance and certification of maintenance, record-keeping, reporting and maintenance procedures, the management system including safety management and compliance monitoring, and the privileges and continuity of the approval.

The management system lesson covers safety management and compliance monitoring as they now sit inside Part-145. In the UK, the CAA is the competent authority for UK Part-145, and SI 2023/588 brought the equivalent safety management wording into UK law from 1 July 2024.

The course is designed for accountable managers and nominated managers in maintenance organisations, aircraft maintenance engineers and mechanics, maintenance planners and other Part-145 staff who need a working knowledge of the regulation.

Where this certificate is accepted

EASA does not approve individual training courses, online or classroom. Under point 145.A.30(e) the maintenance organisation decides, through the procedures in its MOE, which training meets its competency standard, and the competent authority accepts that MOE. That applies to Part-145 organisations in every EASA member state and, under UK Part-145 and SI 2023/588, in the United Kingdom.
